Grants Rd Sand quarry in Somersby, north of Sydney Australia, wanted to increase the value of their product by cutting finished blocks.

In 2012, they purchase their first Echidna saw, a D5HP with 2500mm diameter blade, to run with their 35 tonne excavator. After running for 3 years without a hitch, the demand for their cut stone exceeded their ability to supply. In February, 2015 they added an Echidna D6HP and a 65 tonne excavator.

Initially the quarry had been breaking and crushing the sandstone, and cut some with tungsten-carbide rocksaws. The diamond rocksaw produces a much better finish which means that most of the stone goes directly to the site where it is used for retaining walls and similar structures which require reasonable precision.

In June 2016 Grants Rd Sand started cutting with their latest acquisition - a triple blade D73HP for cutting 500mm wide, precision logs
