Through-Hub Water Distribution
Through-Hub Water Distribution
Through-hub water distribution is a standard feature of all new Echidna diamond rocksaws from the HS and HP series, as of the end of 2023. For S series saws it is an optional extra
Operation
Connect the cooling water hose to the outlet on the hub and open the tap. The automatic water control valve will allow water to flow while the saw is in operation.
The cooling water is distributed via outlets on both sides of the blade. Surface tension and centrifugal force guide the water along the surface of the spinning blade, taking it directly into the cut.
Advantages of Through-Hub Water distribution
Typically, diamond rocksaws for excavators have the cooling water supplied from outlets on the blade. The water hits the fast-spinning blade, most of it bounces straight off and does not enter the cut where it is needed.
With Echidna's through-hub water supply, the water is spinning with the blade as it leaves the orifices on both sides of the blade. The water sticks to the blade, and centrifugal force sends it along the blade surface, into the cut directly.
- The blade is efficiently cooled over its hole surface
- The cut is well lubricated with minimal water
- The system works well with horizontal cuts
Through-hub water can also be provided for multi-blade diamond rocksaws.
Other Echidna Diamond Rocksaw Features
Through-Hub Water Distribution
Improve blade life and cutting rates with optimised water distribution.
Reversible Blade Spin
For site protection and horizontal cutting. This is a feature of all Echidna diamond tipped saws, including high speed and multiple blade models.
Narrow body for trenching
One of our design criteria is to minimise the width of the saw, to allow it to be inserted into trenches.
Bearing Hub
The construction of the front bearing hub and its sealing arrangement gives a life time warranty for protection against any dirt entering the bearing space and even allows to use the saw fully submerged in water.
Adjustable shield
Composite, rotating safety shield provides maximum protection and allows flush cutting
Rotating Stand
The standard stand for all Echidna diamond saws has a rotating cradle. Rotating the cradle allows easy regripping if cutting on alternate sides of the excavator.
Convert to Multiblade saw
The robust construction of the spindle bearing support or all of the Echidna diamond rock saws allows for the mounting of two or more blades, with an offset spacer for cutting of trenches.
Trenches from 20mm up to 500mm in width can be cut this way.Multiple blades can be fitted for quarrying finished slices of stone.
For wider trenches, we recommend using our DX2 range of diamond saws, with blade(s) on either side of the saw.
